LOUIS VUITTON IS ONE OF THE TOP 5 NAMES IN ULTRA HIGH LUXURY BAGS AND ACCESSORIES FROM FRANCE
Louis Vuitton is the name of the founder of the company. Louis Vuitton was a French malletier (trunk and luggage maker). He was born in a small village of France (Anchay, France) and he moved at the age of 16 to Paris and became an apprentice of a then well known malletier named Monsieur Maréchal. After 17 years working for him he became an expert in the craft of trunk making and he opened his own workshop in 1854. Just 4 years later in 1858 he introduced a revolutionary innovation in trunks/luggage, departing form the traditional rounded tops and building square and rectangular shaped pieces.
By 1967 his firm participated in the Paris Universal Exhibition gaining a wider recognition.
His well known LV monogram was introduced in 1886 (created by his son Georges). The monogram was originally created with the purpose of preventing counterfeiting but later became a recognized symbol worldwide.
By 1885 Louis Vuitton opened its first international store in London, England.
In 1892 Louis Vuitton died and his son Georges took over the company. Georges Vuitton had a more global vision and wanted to make the brand internationally known. In 1893 they exhibited their products in the Chicago World Fair.
In 1896, the company launched the signature Monogram canvas.
By 1913 Louis Vuitton was the world largest travel-goods store in the world and they had opened stores in Paris, London, New York, Bombay, Washington, Alexandria, and Buenos Aires.
In 1936 Georges Vuitton died, and his son, Gaston-Louis Vuitton, took over the company.
During the second World War the Vuitton family had some controversial activities helping the Nazis.
After World War II they began to incorporate leather instead of canvas for most of its products; and in 1959 they revamped their Monogram Canvas making it more supple and suitable for smaller formats like purses, bags and wallets.
By 1975 the company had become very small and barely had any sales, they no longer had stores all over the world, they had only two shops left. They were under the control of Odile Vuitton, the great granddaughter of Louis Vuitton and her husband Henry Racamier took over the company in 1977. They had a vision to once again expand the firm worldwide.
Their renewed vision paid off and by 1984 they had increased their sales 7 times over and they had opened stores in Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, in Taipei in Taiwan, and in Seoul in South Korea.
In 1987 Moët et Chandon and Hennessy, leading manufacturers of champagne and cognac merged with Louis Vuitton to create LVMH a French luxury goods conglomerate.
By 1989 Louis Vuitton had 130 stores worldwide.
In 1997, Louis Vuitton made Marc Jacobs its Artistic Director.
After 2001 the company gradually became a symbol of status and luxury, they have opened many stores worldwide, they have become one of the most coveted names in fashion and luxury accessories for the rich and famous.
Nowadays their product lines include their famous luggage, some of the most iconic handbags in the world, ready-to wear fashion, jewelry, accessories and perfumes and cosmetics.
Louis Vuitton today is one of the most valuable brands in the world.

ALL FIRMS WE MENTION HERE AUTHENTICATE THE PRODUCTS YOU BUY.
We only list prestigious firms with a well established reputation and who authenticate products. We actually have the option of listing many more firms but we have decided many of the firms not mentioned here have questionable reputations or offer items the other 12 are already offering.
When you have found a bag you are interested in We strongly emphasize this: always ask the vendor all questions you may have before making a purchase decision, make sure to know everything you need to know about the item you are interested in before paying for it. IF THEY DON’T ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS YOU HAVE ABOUT THE ITEM PRIOR TO BUYING, DON’T BUY FROM THEM.
