Description: Levi’s is the original jeans name, They invented the concept of “Jeans” which was a set of pants made out of denim and reinforced with copper rivets to make them more resistant to hard use. Levi’s was founded in 1853 by a German immigrant named Levi Strauss, he originally moved to San Francisco, California (from New York City) to represent his brother in law’s trading business, he opened Levi Strauss & Co and they sold clothing and other unrelated things. One of the regular clients was a tailor from Nevada, he kept buying pieces of cloth made of denim from Levi’s Strauss & Co to reinforce pants at the stress points. he came up with the idea of reinforcing them using copper rivets at stress points, he went into a partnership with Levi Strauss and they got a patient for the concept in 1873 and the “jeans” were born. Originally jeans were used by workers in rugged jobs like cowboys, lumberjacks and railroad workers. Between 1950 and 1980 they became popular among some groups of influential people (like artists and such).
The popularity of jeans and denim and their presence in fashion has been up and down for decades. During some periods they become very fashionable and very expensive and during others, they are seen as dated. Some jeans are seen as classics and collectible and they fetch very high sums of money.
