About them: Harvey Nichols was founded in 1831 in London, England. It was founded by Benjamin Harvey originally as a small linens store. During the first years, it expanded to neighboring properties. After the first 10 years, Mr. Nichols hired James Nichols and in 1845 he promoted him as manager and in 1948 he became part of his family by marrying his niece. When Mr. Harvey died in 1850 the business was left to his wife Anne and she partnered with his niece’s husband and then manager Mr. James Nichols and they created Harvey Nichols & Co. By 1889 the group of small buildings that made up the store was demolished to build a large new store.

In 1920 the company was sold to a group that had a store in several countries called Debenhams and that group was acquired in 1985 by another group called the Burton Group. IN 1991 The Burton Group sold Harvey Nichols to a Hong Kong firm named Dickson Concepts. They own that company today and operate Harvey Nichols stores n England, Scotland, and Ireland. 

The stores have been one of the big names in Luxury goods and Luxury lifestyle in London and the UK for about 190 years. They carry a large selection of designer names and offer fashion collections for women and men, beauty products wine, and foods. They also operate high-end restaurants at their stores and also stand-alone restaurants.
