Description: ESTEE LAUDER was founded in 1946 by Esther (Nicknamed by her father Estee) Lauder and her husband Joseph Lauder. Estee was the daughter of European Immigrants. Her beginnings were humble and she struggled financially but her opportunity came when she worked for her uncle, a chemist that produced creams and lotions. She learned from her uncle how to wash and massage her face and she re-named one of her uncle’s creams and began selling it to people she knew until one day a hair salon owner suggested she should sell her products at a trendy salon in the area, from there the popularity of her products grew. Later she created a fragrant bath oil that doubled as a perfume and the idea became popular for women using this to replace the traditional and costly French perfumes of the time.
Her bath oil became a success selling the first year 50,000 bottles and by 1984 over 150 million bottles.
Estee Lauder had many successes with her product ideas, over time her firm has become one of the biggest names in skin care, cosmetics, and fragrances around the world.
